Spring Wedding Colors

Tangerine Tango is the color for Spring Weddings in Michiana, this year according, to Panatone the color experts.

As Michiana brides plan their weddings, the authority to check for color inspiration  is Pantone’s spring 2012 fashion color trends,  to single out the colors that are going to dominate the wedding palettes of brides in the spring of 2012. The colors are fun,    As Bridal color’s are not limited to decor and bridesmaids alone, 2012 wedding dresses are just as colorful.

Michiana Wedding Photo Booth Fun!

We think it’s time to start talking about something else than a out of business wedding gown shop. So…

Recently one of our favorite Photo Booth rental companies, Fun Zone Photo Booths introduced their new white photo booth! Most photo booths that are used for weddings in Michiana are all black, black drapes, black walls, black everything. Which is a good idea because you don’t need a photo booth at your wedding reception that is going to clash with your carefully chosen wedding decor and floral arrangements. So black photo booths are the standard in the photo booth industry.

However as Fun Zone proves here, white can be just as elegant and neutral for wedding receptions.  We at Michiana Weddings love it! It is so cool!

So if you are looking to rent a photo booth for your Michiana Wedding and  like this white photo booth as much as we do, give them a call today and reserve. According to Brian the owner, they only have one white photo booth, but they do have several of the standard black photo booths.

Brides a La Mode Closes

Michiana Brides, it was on WNDU tonight that Michiana wedding gown shop,  Brides a la Mode near Grape road in Granger, has closed “temporarily”? A sing in the window at Brides a la Mode states closed for inventory and remodeling. A statement from the owner given to WNDU says that they will reopen on 2-15-11. The owner also scheduled a meeting with WNDU but failed to show. A couple of brides were also interviewed.

Our Opinion:

Whatever this is it is being handled poorly. Inventories do not take 2 weeks in a small store like this to be completed. Stores like this do not close to “remodel”. This is one of the busiest times of years for wedding gown shops as many brides became engaged over the holidays and have been checking out fashions at winter bridal shows. The gown is one of the first things most brides start to look for once engaged. Also stores remain open during remodels to keep making money and services customers and have the work done during off hours. And if they really care about their customers they keep answering the phone and don’t let it go long enough that the local news station picks up the story. That is another question, just how long has the store been closed and brides have been worried till WNDU picked up the story? It just doesn’t happen in a day.

The WNDU statement said that Bride’s a la Mode would reopen on 2-15-11 however tonight on their Facebook page was posted this:

Brides a la mode is closed for an inventory and some remodeling. More news will be available on February 15. All orders will arrive on schedule and alterations are still available.

“More News will be available” is NOT saying they will reopen on that date!

Our recommendation:  If your wedding is still a while off, hold tight till the 15th. Don’t panic. If your wedding could be impacted by this closure because it is coming up soon, I would call the store and post to their facebook page to be contacted if they haven’t done so. If after a day or two you do not hear back, contact WNDU and let them know you are not getting through.

In our opinion we would recommend anyone relying on Brides a la Mode at this point to start formulating an alternative plan. Two plus weeks of closure for inventory or even remodeling is not a trust inspiring reason to close a shop.

There are several reputable gown shops with long histories in the Michiana area to check out. Bernardo’s for the Bride, Greta’s both of which are in South Bend, Stephenson’s in Elkhart and Treats in Plymouth.

Late Night Wedding Treat

For the last couple of years in South Bend, Michiana the trend has been to server late night snacks to your wedding reception guests around 9 or 10 pm. We have all seen chocolate fountains, hot dogs, sliders, and candy bars as late in the reception treats, for your wedding guests. How about another fantastic and fun treat?! Cotton Candy! So when looking for something to treat your reception guest with, consider cotton candy.

New Reception Venue by Notre Dame?

Basilica_of_Notre_DameIf you are thinking about getting married during 2012 or after there may be a new reception hall for you to choose from! According to Cynthia Basker of Celebrated Events, (BTW the best wedding coordinator in Michiana) at least 2 hotels opening in the Eddy Steet Commons, next to Notre Dame University. One of those hotels is planned to be a full service Marriott with a grand ballroom! So Michiana will have another new reception venue to host your wedding days at. The added bonus is it is within walking range of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart! So I expect it will be especially popular for the brides planning a Notre Dame Wedding.
